What appears solid and assured can become visually vulnerable. Changing conditions press upon the mountain's presence, making permanence difficult to distinguish from a brief state of visibility. The photographs hold that contradiction between physical endurance and uncertain appearance, allowing the terrain to remain substantial even when its outlines can no longer be confidently followed.
