Elevated Settlements examines the relationship between habitation, elevation, and cultivated terrain across the Tuscan countryside. Farmhouses, villages, towers, churches, and cypress-lined roads occupy ridges, hilltops, and raised ground that organize the surrounding landscape through position and visibility. Fog, cloud, distance, and changing light continually alter the distinction between settlement and terrain, revealing how architecture emerges from the agricultural patterns that surround it. The sequence follows a progression from isolated occupation toward increasingly concentrated forms of settlement, where built structures become enduring markers within the rolling topography of Tuscany.
