Night gives a civic building a different public presence. Illumination separates it from its surroundings, bringing the representation of authority forward while much of its everyday function remains unseen. The photographs consider this transformation, where architecture becomes a concentrated image of collective identity and the distinction between a working place and a symbol grows less apparent.
