States of Stone examines fortified and ceremonial architecture through shifting conditions of stone, landscape, and atmosphere. Across fortress, palace, bastion, and lakeside stronghold, each structure embodies a distinct architectural state: austere, defensive, ceremonial, opulent, or contemplative. The sequence moves from exposed hilltop walls and winter fortresses toward increasingly elaborate expressions of authority before arriving at reflection and stillness. Light, season, weather, and surrounding terrain continually alter the emotional and spatial character of the structures while reinforcing their enduring physical presence.
