A landscape's apparent solidity depends on the boundaries through which it is recognized. When those distinctions become uncertain, familiar forms can seem to lose their anchorage without physically changing place. The photographs dwell in this separation between substance and appearance, where recognition persists but the spatial relationships that ordinarily support it remain unresolved.
