The Passage and Beyond

A passage directs attention by limiting it. What lies beyond gains significance through the enclosure from which it is seen, making the act of looking inseparable from a particular position. These photographs consider the threshold as a relationship between shelter and exposure, where a bounded space opens toward conditions it cannot control.
